This was the story of Logan Andrew. Born on July 2, 2009 at 3:14 am (yes, for you geeks, Logan was born at pi) He weighed in 6 pounds and 15 ounces. He measured in at 20 1/2 inches. However, it is now the story of Tiny as well. Scarlet Grace was born on March 3rd, 2012. She also weighed 6 lbs 15 ounces. She was 19 3/4 inches long.

trials and tribulations of dinner
For a while Logan was doing so well at dinner time eating his purees. He loved the acorn squash and the sweet potatoes. Then he had a little cold and he wasn't really into eating. Once he got better he ate dinner again, but it became hit or miss. After some searching, we decided to just let it be what it is. If he wants to eat, then he will eat. If he isn't interested, we will give him his bottle instead. Things will be better that way.
Last night, we tried avocado for the first time. He only had a few bites. I had dinner with him, not after him. Tonight, all 3 of us had dinner together. He had more of the avocado. It's going slowly, but well.
Logan has started to bring purees for lunch. The ladies at daycare say it is going very well and he was really into eating lunch. It's the little things.

Logan's New Ride
After months of carrying Logan around in a ring sling, I felt it was time to mix it up a bit and give my one shoulder a rest. Don't get me wrong, I love my maya wrap, but Logan is getting a little heavy to be carried around on one shoulder like that. I read a lot of posts about other carriers and decided upon the Mei Tai (pronounced may-tie). I then saw a link where I could make my own.
So, with notes in hand, Angela and I headed to Jo-Ann's and I picked a bunch of fabric. I did have to go back and exchange the denim I bought because it was stretchy and you shouldn't use stretchy fabric for a Mei Tai. Luck would have it that regular denim was on sale and I saved 21 dollars when I exchanged the stretchy. Finally, I was able to make my new carrier.
Things I learned from making this carrier:
First pic of the front with the hood folded up to see the back side of the hood--with the denim. The second pic is a close up of the fabric--the other photos didn't do the blue in the fabric justice--this one is a little better. The last one is showing the reverse side of the body.

Things I learned from making this carrier:
- ...pre-wash, pre-wash, pre-wash. I washed the carrier after it was built because the dye from the denim was coming off on my hands.
- ...pre-wash, pre-wash, pre-wash. Canvas shrinks when washed--even in cold, so it is best to wash first so that the fibers tighten then go from there.
- I learned that I didn't make it too long and that I can fold up the bottom before tying it around my waist.
- make the hood and body as one...I don't think I am into the separate hood. If I make another one, maybe I won't add a hood.

Sippy Cup?
We tried the sippy cup one day and one day only. He didn't really go for it. We know we have to keep at it, but I don't want it sitting around with formula in it. Can you put water in it?

The Nighttime Routine Gets Tweaked
So, we had been doing the nighttime routine for about a week. The last few days, Logan had been waking up at about 5:30--a half hour earlier than normal. Also, the night before, he would take a nap after his last bottle and we would then wake him up to bathe him just to go back to bed.
After doing some reading and looking to other moms to see what they do, I decided that we needed to tweak Logan's bedtime routine. We have decided that after his last bottle--usually around 8-ish, we will draw his bath, read him his story, rock him, then put him down. We don't know what time he will get up, but he was in bed by 8:30 tonight--a full hour earlier. I hope he will sleep until 6 am, but perhaps he won't. I'll update tomorrow. I do think in the long run this is a better routine.
ETA: We've been doing the bottle after the bath. He's been doing well on that, but he has been waking up early (between 4-5:30) for his morning bottle. We don't like that. Otherwise, it's been good.

Logan can just about sit up from being down
Logan has been sitting very well...but assisted by us or by the boppy pillow. Well, tonight he laid back onto the boppy and then was able to pull himself up into the sitting position. Yay Logan!!!! We are very proud of how far he has come.
