Scarlet's Name Art

For Scarlet's nursery, I created an sign for her with her name on it.  I did one for Logan as well, but his was made by painting and gluing down wooden letter onto a wooden plaque.  I wanted something different.

I saw an "artwork" on pinterest where someone had glued down a bunch of crayons and then melted them so they flowed down the canvas.  I thought it looked easy enough, so I would try it.  However, I decided to add her name to the canvas.

Next I glued down the crayons...Scarlet "helped".
Then it was time to melt the crayons.   Note to self--if I am ever going to do this again, it needs to be done outside and not in the downstairs guest room because it sets off the smoke detector.

As you can see in the 2nd photo, the wax did find its way under the tape.  For some reason, the tape didn't stick so well to the canvas.  I "fixed" it by painting white over the letters.

I am happy with the outcome.  I hope that when Scarlet can read, she will like it too!

Feeding the Ducks and the Turtles

For this week's Monday Night Dinner, we went to The County Line.  Our friend Anita ordered some day old bread so that her daughter Matilda and Logan could go out and feed the ducks and turtles while we waited for dinner.  Logan loved it.  I think he was a bit greedy in the amount he fed the turtles and the amount he let Matilda feed them.  He was upset when it was time to go back in.

Scarlet was there too, but she didn't do much animal feeding that day.

Truck-a-palooza...

April 21.  So, Kevin had heard of this "big" event taking place called "Truck-a-palooza".  It was supposed to have all sorts of trucks.  We were so excited.  We told Robert and Stacey's sister about it so they could bring Dillon and Madden to it.  However, when we got there...it was more like "Suck-a-palooza"!  It was awful.  There was like one truck and maybe a fire truck would show up.  We saw more construction trucks on the way to the event.  We called Robert and told him to abort the mission.

Instead, we all met at the MAC for some playground fun.

Bluebonnet Fail?

Tradition here in Texas dictates that if you have children, you must do the obligatory photos of them in a sea of bluebonnets every spring.  Now some parents stop on the side of Mopac and put themselves and their kid(s) in danger just to capture a few shots.  Not me.  I try to find a nice field to bring the kids to.

This year, due to the much needed (and still needed) rain in January and February, the bluebonnets were beautiful and plentiful this year.  So, one morning, Kevin and I took Logan and Scarlet to Champion Park to get our photos.

Long story short...neither would cooperate.  Logan wouldn't stay still, let alone sit for a picture.  And, Scarlet became hungry about 5 minutes into it.  Furthermore, I forgot to check the batteries in both cameras I brought.  Epic fail on my part.

We still might try again--if the sun comes out later...or maybe tomorrow morning.  In any case, here are the photos we got that morning.
this one isn't that bad

Help!!  I'm being swallowed up by bluebonnets.

This is the only one we got of Logan.

Big Kid Swing

Logan wanted on the big kid swing today.  So, I let him.  He held on tight.  I gave him a push.  And, guess what--he loved it.

The pics are bright, but fun!

Big Boy Room Mural

So, I decided that Logan's big boy room needed a mural--to make it special for him.  Now that it's done, I love it, but the whole time I was painting it, I kept thinking to myself..."what was I thinking taking this on while I was pregnant?!"

I started it in November and slowly worked on it until I finally finished it in May.  In reality, it shouldn't have taken so long, but some weekends I was tired.  Other weekends I had school work.  Then of course, there was that time when Logan wouldn't nap.

In any case, it's done.  Here it is from start to finish.

Final Mural!!

I hope Logan likes it!!!
