Scarlet's Name Art

For Scarlet's nursery, I created an sign for her with her name on it.  I did one for Logan as well, but his was made by painting and gluing down wooden letter onto a wooden plaque.  I wanted something different.

I saw an "artwork" on pinterest where someone had glued down a bunch of crayons and then melted them so they flowed down the canvas.  I thought it looked easy enough, so I would try it.  However, I decided to add her name to the canvas.

Next I glued down the crayons...Scarlet "helped".
Then it was time to melt the crayons.   Note to self--if I am ever going to do this again, it needs to be done outside and not in the downstairs guest room because it sets off the smoke detector.

As you can see in the 2nd photo, the wax did find its way under the tape.  For some reason, the tape didn't stick so well to the canvas.  I "fixed" it by painting white over the letters.

I am happy with the outcome.  I hope that when Scarlet can read, she will like it too!
